“Ever since I was a child

I’ve struggled with my feelings

I’ve been saddened for no reason

And fearful every season

_

When other kids would play outside

I stayed locked in my room

Alone to go cry

_

I sheltered myself

I enjoyed "alone time”

I made up excuses

I said I was fine

_

Now that I’m older

The truth has has come out

Everyone knows

They know without a doubt

_

I refuse to take meds

Because they make me uneasy

But I want to get help

I need something to free me

_

I don’t want to live like this

Always staying at home

Laying in the dark

In my bed, all alone

_

I want to be happy

To spend time with my friends

I always feel bad

When I say ‘no’ again

_

I’m starting to change

My life and my ways

I’m finding my passion

The light and sun rays

_

My views become clearer

My goals seem much nearer

My hopes are now growing

My happiness is showing

_

I have so much time

So much life to live

I’m so full of joy

And energy within

_

I still have bad days

But much less than then

Most days are productive

I’d rate them a '10’

_

I’m so very thankful

To myself and my friends

And everyone who’s helped me

To regrow, again

_

God bless these people

For helping me recover

I now have some hope

That’ll I’ll begin to discover

Myself and my plans

My goals and my dreams

My life that I’ll live

Always chasing the breeze

_

So, thank you, again

To all who have helped

I won’t let you down

If I need it, I’ll get help"
